HOW TO CREATE A 49 STATE LANDSLIDE IN THE LAST DAY OF CAMPAIGNING

HOW TO CREATE A 49 STATE LANDSLIDE IN THE LAST DAY OF CAMPAIGNING
11/7/2016

Actually, we have today and tomorrow (election day). It's a tall order, but in the election of 1972, Richard Nixon claimed 49 states vs George McGovern. McGovern won Massachusetts and Washington DC, and that, as they say, was that. He won the electoral count 520-17, and the popular vote 62% to 38%. Nixon then went on to screw up his mandate in a slew of ways, but that's another story.

In 1984, it was Ronald Reagan who knocked off Walter Mondale with 525-13 massacre. Poll numbers heading into the election matched the final popular vote at 59% Reagan to 41% Mondale. So, the result in the electoral college was nearly unanimous, while the popular vote was won by just 18%.

George H.W. Bush defeated Michael Dukakis in 1988 in a major landslide, as Dukakis had a 7 point August lead, but lost it in the final two months due to an attack ad of which he chose not to defend. In the end, he lost to Bush in the electoral college 426-111, with Bush winning the popular vote 53%-46%. It is pretty amazing that Bush got whacked 4 years later by Bill Clinton. Point being  that Bush won in this landslide by a mere 7%. Hillary is at about 5% currently.

Blowing out an opponent is not exactly unprecedented in relatively recent elections. Currently, Hillary Clinton holds about a 5% lead in the final day of campaigning. She has all the guns blazing, with two Presidents, a First Lady, a Vice President and a very qualified VP candidate making the final case today. Adding the star power of many top level athletes and performers, they cannot do any more to make the final case. Current polling averages, combined with the doubling of Hispanic voters in this election, who are not considered to be "likely voters", puts my estimation at about an 8% advantage for the former First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State.

This leaves us with a gap of about 10%. We may not be able to cover that, but here is how you do it.

PUTTING IT OVER THE TOP

Stop trying to flip Republicans or Trump supporters to vote Democrat. There's not enough time.

1. Share this article among your friends and groups, and ask them to re-share. This needs to be done today.

2. Ask everybody you share with to ask neighbors and people they run into in the supermarket or work if they're planning on voting. You'll amazingly find that nearly half were not going to vote.

3. Explain briefly that there is a candidate who will cause a collapse in the economy and promotes nuclear weapons for small nations, and whose campaign managers are Russian operatives. Make it brief.

4. Ask them if they will vote with you. If they've never voted before, you can walk them through it.

5. Jot down a list of pro-democracy and pro-middle class Democrats on your ballot that they should vote for.  They can skip the propositions and other ballot measures if they want. It may be too much for them to learn.

5. Get their phone number if you can, and drive them or meet them at the polling place.

You've doubled your vote by getting just ONE voter who was not planning to vote, to vote with you. If you consider the hundreds of thousands of members of our combined Facebook groups, combined with the friends that they talk to today, there is a chance that even if one in ten follow through, up to a million new Democratic voters will cast their votes, causing a pretty big win.

Even if a major blowout doesn't happen, you could change your Congressional district from Red to Blue, and help Democrats take the Senate, repairing some of the damage that the FBI did in their failed coup attempt of the last couple of weeks. GOOD LUCK.
